Grounding Audit Report | Interstates

5. There were 4 points in Micro 2 Floor (Area 3) that had readings of N/A, 63, N/A and 60 Ohms. The facility was currently working on installing a grounding rod to ensure that points 55, 56, 58 and 59 are properly grounded and will be sending the updated readings upon completion of the install. Cargill has noted this recommendation has been completed. An updated Ohm reading was not provided. (Points 55-56, 58-59) 6. The 2F XFMR in the Screener Machine Area (Area 10) had a reading of N/A. We recommend ensuring the green ground wire which should be ran with the power cables to the ground bar inside the enclosure is tight and free from corrosion. We also recommend ensuring the N-G Bond inside the XMFR is connected directly to the earth grounding system. (Point 70) 7. The MCC 2F Capfuse in the Screener Machine Area (Area 10) had a reading of 41 Ohms. We recommend ensuring the ground wire that should be pulled in with the power cables is securely connected to the ground bar inside the enclosure. If not, a new green THWN ground wire, sized per NEC, will need to be pulled and connected to the enclosures ground bar. (Point 71) 8. The Dust Collector Tank in the Bulk Area (Area 17) had a reading of 5.37 Ohms. We recommend ensuring there is a ground wire connected to the steel frame of the tank and it is secure and free from corrosion and damage. If not, a new green #6 THWN ground wire will need to be connected to the nearest ground whip or building steel to the steel frame of the tank. (Point 92) 9. The Vac Pan Silo Housing in the Bulk Area (Area 17) had a reading of N/A, meaning there is an extremely poor or no connection to the grounding system. We recommend checking to ensure there are ground connections to the Vac Pan Silo Housing and that all steel to steel connections are secure. If not, we recommend connecting a #6 THWN ground wire will need to be connected to the nearest ground whip or building steel to the steel frame of the Vac Pan Silo Housing. (Point 100) 10. Lighting Panel 3 in the Maintenance Area (Area 20) had a reading of N/A, meaning there is an extremely poor or no connection to the grounding system. We recommend ensuring the ground wire that should be pulled in with the power cables is securely connected to the ground bar inside the panel and it is bonded to the panels casing. If not, a new green THWN ground wire, sized per NEC, will need to be pulled and connected to the enc losure’s ground bar or the enclosure’s casing itself. (Point 107) 11. The Welding Frame in the Maintenance Area (Area 20) had a reading of 1,000 Ohms. We recommend ensuring the ground wire that should be pulled in with the power cables is securely connected to the receptacle that the welder is being plugged into. If the ground in the receptacle is good, we recommended checking the cord connection to the welder itself. (Point 113) 12. The Welding Disconnect 2 in the Maintenance Area (Area 20) had a reading of 6.40 Ohms. We recommend ensuring the ground wire that should be pulled in with the power cables is securely connected to the ground bar inside the enclosure. If not, a new green THWN ground wire, sized per NEC, will need to be pulled and connected to the disconnects grounding connection. (Point 114)

Required Action: 1. The #3 Circulating Pump in the MCC Room Vac Pan (Area 13) had a reading of N/A meaning that it is not connected to the grounding system. We recommend ensuring the ground wire that should be pulled in with the power cables is securely connected to the ground lug inside the pump termination enclosure. If not, a new green THWN ground wire, sized per NEC, will need to be pulled and connected to the pump enclosure’s grounding connection. (Points 32) 2. There were two ground whips at Cooling Area (Area 16) that had readings between 119 Ohms and 365 Ohms. We recommend ensuring the connections to the ground rods and equipment is tight and free from corrosion. If this connection is properly made, then we recommend driving a ground rod approximately 10-15ft away and connecting the two ground rods with a 2/0 green THWN ground wire. (Points 73 – 74)
